Meet Kirsty

Kirsty Murray

Founder | Senior Physiotherapist & Clinical Pilates Instructor 

Kirsty is a registered Physiotherapist with over 20 years’ clinical experience, having graduated from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh in 2006. She discovered Pilates early in her career and has been integrating Physiotherapy principles with Pilates-based rehabilitation for over 15 years.

Kirsty developed extensive Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy experience in the UK, including working as a Team Lead Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist for a large private healthcare provider in Edinburgh. Her career in the U.K. also included elite sports Physiotherapy roles, working at the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and for four seasons within Premier Division Rugby in Edinburgh.

In 2018, Kirsty relocated to New Zealand with her Kiwi husband and has since worked in private practice at a boutique Physiotherapy and Pilates studio in Central Auckland. During this time, she has further refined her approach to combining hands-on Physiotherapy with Clinical Pilates-based rehabilitation. As well as gaining more experience with complex conditions through ACC contract work including pain management service.

Kirsty is an APPI Certified Pilates Matwork Instructor and has completed Reformer Pilates training with Polestar in New Zealand. Throughout her career she has kept up with professional development and industry trends with extensive postgraduate training and education in both the Physiotherapy and Pilates fields.

Alongside her professional experience, Kirsty brings personal insight into rehabilitation and recovery. Over the past decade she has navigated significant life and health challenges, including two challenging pregnancies and caesarean deliveries, experiences that have reinforced the value of strength, movement, and adaptable exercise through all stages of life.

Kirsty takes a realistic, inclusive approach to rehabilitation. She understands that every body has its own history, limitations, and goals, and she is skilled at modifying and adapting exercises to support recovery, build confidence in movement, and achieve meaningful, sustainable outcomes.
